When DJ (Dixie junior) was born, it gave us the opportunity to make a tough decision…retain DJ in the herd, and say goodbye to her dam, Dixie.  Dixie had a terrible time delivering a huge buck kid as a yearling, and we believe some damage was done in doing so.  When our friends at Welbian Farm offered to take Dixie to ‘play with her genetics’, we quickly took them up on the offer!  It was a tough decision to let Dixie move to NY, but while maintaining a small herd, we appreciated the opportunity to stay in touch with our Twist granddaughter!  Dixie, as we have learned, was a slow maturing doe, as she has started coming into herself, and recently appraised VG88!

DJ was our first Rebel daughter to freshen, and boy, has she caused some excitement!! DJ’s udder, at even a few days fresh, was more than we had hoped for!  DJ’s rear udder is very high and wide, and her foreudder is nice and smoothly blended…and DJ obviously inherited her granddam Twist’s will to milk!  Although DJ wasn’t on our show string for Nationals, there was no way Tim was letting her stay behind. It”s a good thing Tim had faith in that little doe…she placed 1st in the Milking Yearling class, with 1st place udder!! DJ is  the 3rd Sparkling Acres doe to win that class…the other two, Kiara and Rosie were herd favorites, and went on to really prove themselves to be assets to the herd.  I’m sure there is no way Tim is going to let us part with DJ…so now we’ll sit back and watch her mature!  DJ was bred to CH Sparkling Acres Chasin’ Aces for April kids.
