Sparkling Acres Dancin’ In Dixie

When DJ (Dixie junior) was born, it gave us the opportunity to make a tough decision…retain DJ in the herd, and say goodbye to her dam, Dixie.  Dixie had a terrible time delivering a huge buck kid as a yearling, and we believe some damage was done in doing so.  When our friends at Welbian Farm offered to take Dixie to ‘play with her genetics’, we quickly took them up on the offer!

Dixie strongly resembles her dam, Twist, and we believe she has just as much to offer genetically as Twist has offered us over the years.  It was a tough decision to let Dixie move to NY, but while maintaining a small herd, we appreciate the opportunity to raise this beautiful Twist granddaughter!  We are hoping that DJ will follow in her granddam’s footsteps.  DJ was bred to Rebel for March kids.

UPDATE: DJ freshened on March 19th with a single doe kid.  Our first Rebel daughter to freshen, we are really excited to watch DJ mature…her udder, although only a few days fresh, is more than we had hoped for!  DJ’s rear udder is very high and wide, and her foreudder is nice and smoothly blended.  DJ obviously inherited her granddam Twist’s will to milk!
